A friend said to me - You should start the English section of your blog.
I thought I wasn't ready for that, so I let the idea slip from my mind.
About a year later, another friend asked - Why don't you have an English version of your website? You can't reach enough people by writing in Serbian.
How could I translate my reviews, I thought, when they are built on words and phrases of my own making?
But the idea of reaching out beyond borders of the country, language and minds which seem to get more narrow by the day stayed with me this time.
So, here I am, trying to write the rust off my second language.

Bio bi dobar da ima više od jedne pesnikinje (i ta jedna je tu jer potčinjeno i treperavo peva o Evi koja je tek jedna grana u drvetu koje je Adam). Ovako je i sama ideja krnja.
Nisam imao mogućnosti da proverim istinitost doživljaja o kojima Haler priča. Ne sumnjam da su oni većim delom izmišljeni, ali to nije namerno izmišljanje, već pokušaj da se duboko proživljena unutrašnja zbivanja zaodenu ruhom vidljivih događaja.
Predgovorom ne samo da se ograđuje od sadržine romana, već za nju optužuje i kao njenog autora i protagonistu određuje društvo – ono koje će je sa gnušanjem odbaciti jer se boji prepoznavanja.
Halerova duševna bolest – to mi je danas jasno – nije nastranost pojedinca, već bolest samog vremena.

Više zabavno nego korisno. Može da pomogne kod analize Kišovog prikaza odnosa sina prema (odsutnom) ocu u "Porodičnom cirkusu". Možda.
Filozofe poslednjih godina ne čitam da bih se sa njima usaglašavala ili krvila, nego da bih upijala lepe rečenice. Proučim ih ja, prerazmislim, ponešto čak iz njihovih stavova i proradim i provučem oko svojih, ali se ne trudim da od njih naučim baš sve čemu su me kao čitaoca nameravali naučiti.
Tako Ničea čitam sad. Ne dopuštam mu da me ubedi u svoju istinu, čak ni kad je slična mojoj - pogotovo ne tad. Hranim se njegovim nizovima reči i pamtim njegova razmišljanja, bez osećanja dužnosti da im se priklonim, bez osećanja potrebe da se odupirem.
Knjiga je tako na bezbednoj udaljenosti od moje kritičarske nekompetencije, dok je moja nezrelost oklopljena protiv uticaja knjige.

Noć pred Noć knjige započinjem kafom i nastavljam odlaganjem obaveza. Sećanje uspeva da izbegne sve okidače. Negde između radne navike i elana, pod hrpom rokova i rokovnika zaturila se želja da uobličim esej. Primećujem usklađenost zaludnog ritma kursora i novogodišnjih lampica, crvenih. Krevet, nenamešten od srede, hladan, iščekuje dodir mojih leđa i nesnova. Ostacima večere i diskografije od sinoć, tromo, budim jutro. Sipam pola kašičice kafe manje nego što bih inače i tek tu shvatim.
Prvo, besmisleno je vršiti izbor iz Njegoša.
Drugo, ne sviđa mi se izbor iz Šćepana Malog.
Treće, ne mogu da dam punih 5 zvezdica, ni zbog Njegoša, ni znajući da je "to u ono vreme bilo tako", knjizi u kojoj je nasilje nad ženama izvor komike.

Smakla jednu zvezdicu zbog lektora, drugu zbog neuhodanosti piščeve.
Cenim da će nastavak imati bar pola zvezdice više.
